Praying the Scriptures: Understanding Lectio Divina
Many parishioners appreciated reading through Luke's Gospel in Advent and Mark's Gospel in Lent and have asked for guidance in how best to approach their daily reading of the Bible. A session on Lectio Divina, the prayerful reading of Scripture, has been arranged for Tuesday, 30th September at 7pm in Syderstone Church. What is Lectio Divina? Cycling pilgrimage group from Doncaster hosted at St. Mary’s, Syderstone
Fr. Clive and parishioners welcomed pilgrims from Doncaster who were cycling to The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. They stopped off at St Mary’s, Syderstone this afternoon. They celebrated Mass before enjoying coffee and the most delicious blueberry cake! This group is one of many that come through our benefice on the way to Walsingham every year.
Beyond the Pigpen: From Rebellion to Reconciliation
Fr Clive will lead a Day Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham on Saturday, 13th September. The programme will commence at 9.30am with an address in the Barn Chapel and will include Mass and Sprinkling in the Shrine Church before ending with a short time of prayer and reflection at 4pm. Everyone is welcome. Please invite your friends and any who may be interested. A detailed programme will be available in due course.
Special Choral Evensong for the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed
We had a special Choral Evensong on Sunday in The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, North Creake for the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed. A good-sized congregation was present, and refreshments were provided after what was a very moving service.
