Many parishioners appreciated reading through Luke's Gospel in Advent and Mark's Gospel in Lent and have asked for guidance in how best to approach their daily reading of the Bible. A session on Lectio Divina, the prayerful reading of Scripture, has been arranged for Tuesday, 30th September at 7pm in Syderstone Church. What is Lectio Divina? See this link for a page on how Lectio Divina differs from other forms of engaging with the Bible.

Come and join friends from across the benefice at the annual Harvest Thanksgiving at 6pm on Friday 3 October at the Church of Saint Mary Syderstone. This is followed by a two course supper for £8 at the Amy Robsart Village Hall. On the menu are yummy jacket potatoes and trifles. Bring your own glasses and drinks. A fun raffle will also be held. Tickets are available from Anita and Julie, and at Syderstone coffee mornings. Proceeds support the Church

After Choral Evensong on a Sunday afternoon in early August,  the Deanery Lay Chair, Canon Anne Prentis, made a presentation on behalf of the deanery to acknowledge Fr. Clive Wylie's period as Rural Dean. It was a wonderful occasion with representatives from all of Fr. Clive's parishes and from across the deanery attending. Thank you to North Creake for hosting this occasion.

The staff and pupils from South Creake Strings will be performing a concert on Wednesday, 27th August at 7.30pm in The Church of Our Lady Saint Mary, South Creake. This concert is a firm favourite each year, with a varied programme and excellent musicians. There will be a retiring collection in aid of church funds. Everyone is welcome!

Building on the excellent lectures of previous years we are delighted to have Fr George Guiver CR as our speaker this October. Fr George is a monk with The Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield and the author of several books. His latest book is 'All Christians are Monks: The Monastery, the Parish and the Renewal of the Church'. This is a talk not to be missed and everyone is encouraged to attend, especially PCC members and those who will be involved
