Praying the Scriptures: Understanding Lectio Divina
Many parishioners appreciated reading through Luke's Gospel in Advent and Mark's Gospel in Lent and have asked for guidance in how best to approach their daily reading of the Bible. A session on Lectio Divina, the prayerful reading of Scripture, has been arranged for Tuesday, 30th September at 7pm in Syderstone Church. What is Lectio Divina? New Dates for the Contemplative Prayer Group
For over a year, a group from across the Creakes Benefice and beyond it have been meeting at The Church of Saint Mary Syderstone for contemplative prayer. Contemplative prayer is a form of silent prayer that is focused on experiencing God’s loving kindness through quiet, gentle attention. This form of prayer has a deep and rich tradition within Christianity. Meetings are at 4pm on the second Tuesday of the month. Coffee, cake, and fellowship follow.
