This year's Creakes Benefice online advent retreat features three reflections from Rev. Clive Wylie OC on the parable of the prodigal son. This rich parable can be explored from many different angles, bringing new insights that can help us in our daily lives and as Christians to love one another, ourselves, and God. It is taking place on three Wednesday evenings at 5pm: 26 November 3 December 10 December The Zoom meeting login is: Meeting ID: 898 2332 3731 Passcode: 7u4CZ7

Many parishioners appreciated reading through Luke's Gospel in Advent and Mark's Gospel in Lent and have asked for guidance in how best to approach their daily reading of the Bible. A session on Lectio Divina, the prayerful reading of Scripture, has been arranged for Tuesday, 30th September at 7pm in Syderstone Church. What is Lectio Divina? See this link for a page on how Lectio Divina differs from other forms of engaging with the Bible.

Come and join friends from across the benefice at the annual Harvest Thanksgiving at 6pm on Friday 3 October at the Church of Saint Mary Syderstone. This is followed by a two course supper for £8 at the Amy Robsart Village Hall. On the menu are yummy jacket potatoes and trifles. Bring your own glasses and drinks. A fun raffle will also be held. Tickets are available from Anita and Julie, and at Syderstone coffee mornings. Proceeds support the Church

Fr. Clive and parishioners welcomed pilgrims from Doncaster who were cycling to The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. They stopped off at St Mary’s, Syderstone this afternoon. They celebrated Mass before enjoying coffee and the most delicious blueberry cake! This group is one of many that come through our benefice on the way to Walsingham every year.

After Choral Evensong on a Sunday afternoon in early August,  the Deanery Lay Chair, Canon Anne Prentis, made a presentation on behalf of the deanery to acknowledge Fr. Clive Wylie's period as Rural Dean. It was a wonderful occasion with representatives from all of Fr. Clive's parishes and from across the deanery attending. Thank you to North Creake for hosting this occasion.

Fr Clive will lead a Day Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham on Saturday, 13th September. The programme will commence at 9.30am with an address in the Barn Chapel and will include Mass and Sprinkling  in the Shrine Church before ending with a short time of prayer and reflection at 4pm. Everyone is welcome. Please invite your friends and any who may be interested. A detailed programme will be available in due course.

The staff and pupils from South Creake Strings will be performing a concert on Wednesday, 27th August at 7.30pm in The Church of Our Lady Saint Mary, South Creake. This concert is a firm favourite each year, with a varied programme and excellent musicians. There will be a retiring collection in aid of church funds. Everyone is welcome!

For over a year, a group from across the Creakes Benefice and beyond it have been meeting at The Church of Saint Mary Syderstone for contemplative prayer. Contemplative prayer is a form of silent prayer that is focused on experiencing God’s loving kindness through quiet, gentle attention. This form of prayer has a deep and rich tradition within Christianity. Meetings are at 4pm on the second Tuesday of the month. Coffee, cake, and fellowship follow.
